We recognise families as the primary educators of their children, particularly in matters relating to relationships and human sexuality.
St Bede’s seeks to work openly and positively with families. Parents and carers can access information about what is being taught through our published curriculum and are welcome to contact the College to discuss the curriculum or view the resources used.
We encourage conversations at home alongside the curriculum, helping young people reflect on relationships, values, faith, responsibility and the choices they encounter as they grow.
Families have the right to request that their child is withdrawn from Sex Education delivered as part of RSE, except for content which forms part of National Curriculum Science.
There is no right to withdraw from Relationships Education or Health Education.
Families considering withdrawal should contact the College. We will discuss the request, explain the nature and purpose of the curriculum and ensure that parents understand what will and will not be taught.
