  • Accessibility Statement

St Bede's Catholic College is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to the St Bede's Catholic College website at https://www.stbedescc.org/.

This website is run by St Bede's Catholic College. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

For example, that means you should be able to:
    • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
    • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
    • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
    • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

    How accessible this website is:

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
    • some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software
    • some images may not have suitable alternative text
    • some third-party content or embedded services may not be fully accessible
    • some documents published before September 2018 may not meet accessibility standards

    Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

    Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

    Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

    (a) Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some images do not always have appropriate alternative text. This means people using a screen reader may not be able to access the information fully. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).

Some PDF documents may not be fully accessible to assistive technologies. This may fail WCAG 2.2 success criteria including 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships) and 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels).

We are working to review and replace inaccessible content where possible and ensure all newly published content meets accessibility standards.

    (b) Disproportionate burden

At present, we have not identified any issues for which we are claiming disproportionate burden.

    (c) Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents published before 23 September 2018 are not required to meet accessibility regulations unless they are essential to providing our services.

Third-party content that is not funded, developed or controlled by the school may not be fully accessible.

What we are doing to improve accessibility
We are continually reviewing the accessibility of our website and working with our website provider to improve accessibility and usability for all users.
