Relationships and Sex Education at St Bede’s

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is an important part of our mission to educate and form the whole person. Our approach is rooted in the Catholic understanding of the inherent dignity of every human person, made in the image and likeness of God, and in our Lasallian commitment to know, value and care for the young people entrusted to us.

We seek to provide a positive and prudent education which helps students develop healthy relationships and the knowledge, virtues and skills required to make informed and responsible decisions.

RSE is taught in accordance with statutory Department for Education guidance and the moral teaching of the Catholic Church. Students receive clear and accurate scientific and legal information alongside opportunities to understand Catholic teaching.

Where issues involve differing or contested viewpoints, students are supported to consider these respectfully and thoughtfully. Established facts and the law are taught accurately, Catholic teaching is clearly identified, and the dignity of those who hold different views is always respected.
