The 2025 national figures were published just before half-term and show the Year 11s at St Bede's achieved the second-highest attainment of any mixed secondary school in the city.

This is a fabulous achievement for the students and the staff that worked so hard for these fantastic results.

The St. Bede’s Way Spotlight identifies children who stand out as exemplifying one of our three St Bede’s Way principles of “Work Hard. Be Kind. Do the Right Thing.”

Congratulations to Leo, year 11 who recently took part in the Cadet Inter-Services Skill at Arms Meeting (CISAM) with the Air Cadets.

CISAM is an event which brings together over 200 of the best cadets from across the UK to test their skills in leadership, teamwork and marksmanship. This was Leo’s first time competing, and he finished 8th overall out of more than 200 cadets.

Following this, he was selected to represent the Royal Air Force Air Cadets in the Inter-Service competition, where his team went on to achieve first place.

Leo, congratulations. Your hard work exemplifies one of our St Bede’s Way principles. We are proud of you.

Stan’s hard work and dedication have also earned him selection for the Gloucestershire Under 18 squad.

We look forward to following his continued success and development in the game.
 

The morning of events was a resounding success providing students an opportunity to explore their next steps after Year 11.

The event brought together representatives from local businesses, colleges and universities.

In attendance this year was the British Army, Boomsatsuma, Burges-Salmon, City of Bristol College, Bristol School of Acting, SGS College, St Bede’s Areté, St Brendan’s Sixth Form College, Weston College, University of Bristol, Robins Foundation, NHS Severn Pathology and SoMax.

The students were able to get a taste of life at Cambridge, with tours of the library, chapel and other facilities as well as the opportunity to visit other colleges. Staying in the halls gave a chance to relax with students from other schools, great preparation for the real thing at the end of Sixth Form.

We are grateful to all the staff at Trinity Hall, especially Xanthé Robertson, for making us so welcome and giving students such a valuable experience.

This week, over 80 students participated in a “practically perfect” performance of Mary Poppins Jr.

Rob King, Principal, said: “This fantastic group of students has lived through a hugely challenging time. Despite the uncertainty, they have worked hard and risen to the challenges in a way that is so impressive. These children have grown in all aspects of their life, but today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their academic successes. Although we have many great performances at the top end, with large numbers of grades 8 and 9, we want to recognise all the huge achievements from students that have been dealing with very difficult circumstances. These students have earned the grades that will allow them to take their next steps in life. The students are a credit to themselves, their families and the college and we know they are going to make important contributions to our society in the future”.

“I would also like to thank the staff who have supported the students wonderfully, both through emotional care and in preparing them well for their examinations.”

Result highlights

82% of students achieved a 4 or higher in English and Maths.
33% of all grades were 7 or higher.
The Attainment 8 score was 5.5.
