    Stunning A level Results

Students in Areté at St Bede’s Catholic College celebrate stunning A Level Results

Having recently established A Level provision in Areté, St Bede’s has quickly positioned itself to be amongst the best in the city.

Some 54 students completed their study with us and they are now celebrating the following successes.

    A*, A, B                                  58%                             A* /A                          25%

    A* - E                                      100%                          C+                                82%

    2 A* - E                                   98%                             2 A* - B                      59%

    1 A* - B                                  70%                             Average Grade         B-

91% of the students are planning to go on to higher education and of these 93% have today secured places and 51% have confirmed places at prestigious Russell Group institutions.

We are delighted to report some stunning individual performances. Students achieved grades that surpassed their expectations but not those of their teachers. We celebrated all grades whether they were A* or E; whatever the grades we are confident they reflected ability and industry.

84% of those who studied the academically challenging EPQ achieved at least a B grade, with 56% achieving A*/A.  Achieving straight A*/ A grades were:

Sophie Stretch, A* A* A, one of our Bristol Scholars, goes to the University of Bristol to study Medicine.

Abigail Gordon with A* A A as well as A in the EPQ will study Biochemistry at the University of Exeter.

Andrew Nelson with A* A A has been accepted at the University of Birmingham to study Economics.

Sean Moss has been accepted at the University of Birmingham to study Law with his A A A and A* in EPQ.

Another Bristol scholar, Laura Odemwingie, with A A B has also secured her place at University of Bristol to study Biochemistry.

Catherine Hughes, Principal, said “Our ambition has always been to enable young people to achieve success, relative to ability. The results this year are evidence that this has been secured and great credit must go to the students and their teachers. The challenge for St. Bede’s now is to build on this stunning performance to ensure excellence is built to last. The direction is clear, the commitment is evident and I have every confidence that Areté can become the Number 1 for Post 16 within Bristol.”

Father Michael McAndrew, Chair of Governors said: “Results day is challenging for young people and their families. It is a real delight to see the hard work of the students and staff has paid off yet again at Areté and that these young people are now well placed for the next phase in their lives. We wish each and every one success in their further studies.”
