    Routes into Languages

On Tuesday 26th March, St. Bede’s was represented by six pupils from years 8 and 10 in the annual Languages Speaking Competition at Bath Royal High School.

There were 15 schools participating from the south west region and the competition was fierce as always. Congratulations to Leila Karass, Maria Nithyanandam, Alice Forsythe, Bella Forster, Josephine Woodcock and Sam Granados who prepared so well and put their heart and soul into their delivery.  A special mention to Sam who was awarded the runner up prize in his category of Near-Native Speaker, talking about his family.

Mr Dunn said: ‘Such experiences are incredibly important for our pupils because they teach a passion for languages as well as resolute character when getting up in front of an audience.  It was wonderful to celebrate the diversity and fun of other languages and to get a glimpse of the amazing opportunities that learning them offers. I am so proud of them.’

The pupils were presented with a small gift from Mr Maher and the Languages department on Monday for their efforts.  Well done.
